Weld County approves $739,885 change order for Hill and Park drainage, ADA study

The Weld County Board of County Commissioners approved April 21, 2025, a $739,885 change order to an on-call engineering contract with Drexel Burrell & Company to provide drainage and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance design services for the Hill and Park Subdivision.
Michael Bedell, senior engineer in the public works department, told the board that Drexel was originally selected under a qualifications-based selection process for on-call engineering services and is familiar with the study area. The change order will add the Hill and Park drainage/ADA tasks to that existing contract and allow Drexel to begin work immediately.
Bedell said Drexel’s qualifications and experience match the needs for the study, and he recommended approval. Commissioner Kevin Ross moved approval; Commissioner Katie Maxey seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote with all in favor.
The change order is being added to an existing contract (dated Feb. 3) that uses a QBS selection; the board did not specify additional funding sources or a separate appropriation in the meeting record. Action recorded: approval of the change order to proceed with study and design work.
