Mayor Campbell updated council on several ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects, reporting progress on wastewater planning, contract bids and water-system improvements.
The mayor said the city interviewed four firms for the wastewater treatment plant RFP and was finalizing a selection while pursuing state and federal funding opportunities for the project. Trash contract bids were due to the city in May and a pre-bid meeting for a skater project was scheduled. The mayor reported that awards had been issued for a water tank and 10‑inch meter extensions and that EPA officials had indicated comfort with those extensions, allowing the city to move forward.
Work on a city communication tower was under way and crews had begun running lines; climbing and installation are scheduled to await improved weather. The mayor also said a grant for signage and a generator associated with well fields, previously received, did not require an additional hold and could be executed. The city filed an application with a mayoral partnership for strategic development funds to help update zoning codes and support development near a local hospital.
No formal council vote on project selection or appropriations for these projects was recorded at the meeting. The mayor indicated that more details — scope, fees and timelines — would be shared with council as firms finalize proposals and state/federal approvals advance.
