During the public-comment period, resident Karen Locke and referenced business owner Andrew Carter urged the City Council to repair Hutchinson Street, which Carter described as “in devastating condition” with potholes more than a foot deep that are damaging vehicles and driving customers away.
Locke said Hutchinson Street is “terrible for the ambulance to get in” and asked the council to at least fill holes near the boat ramp used for tournaments. The council heard that a petition and photographs were submitted by business owners and residents documenting the condition. The mayor and council clarified the stretch is technically labeled Parker Alley on city maps, and staff said gravel has been applied previously and crews will be sent to re-inspect and perform additional patching as time permits.
Council members noted the city prioritizes main streets ahead of alleys but said they would notify staff (Chris/Carden) to evaluate the alley and boat-ramp approaches. No formal motion or funding commitment was made; the council characterized the discussion as a public request and operational follow-up for city crews.
