The Summerville Tree Protection Board voted to deny a request to remove a pine tree at 101 Toehee Drive after staff and board members said the tree was healthy and did not meet removal standards in the town’s tree ordinance.
Town staff reported the pine presented no visible defects and was not currently a foundation or public-safety threat. "As it stands right now, it doesn't pose any kind of a safety threat under the conditions that you would normally find it in," a board member said after staff review. Another board member added the tree had survived prior storms and showed no signs of structural failure.
The board made a motion to deny the removal; members voted in favor and the motion passed by voice vote.
