The report said the foundation launched a website in 2024 and highlighted several initiatives, including the Lowcountry Sings event, which received the 2024 Lehman Award for innovative event production from the National Association of Parks Foundations, and the Hometown Hero Memorial Banner Program. The foundation also supported the Azalea Park Children's Discovery Garden and worked with First Citizens on splash-pad shade structures.
The representative told the committee that 2024 gross receipts were $81,716 and that $66,628 was expended back to Somerville Parks and Recreation. She said Leadership Dorchester funds that had previously flowed through the Parks Foundation were routed through the chamber in 2024 and therefore are not included in the foundation's 2024 numbers. She also said the foundation is working with Boeing on Sawmill Trail renovations.
When asked whether impact fees were included in the report, the representative said they were not: "The impact fees are, but there none of the impact fees go towards the Somerville Parks Foundation. This is independent money that was independently raised."
