The Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority learned at its May 7 meeting that two grant requests will appear at the June board meeting: one from Avalon Housing related to the affordable housing fund and one from the State Street District seeking up to $100,000 to support creation of a business improvement zone (BIZ).
Miss Thompson, the DDA executive director, said the executive committee received the two grant requests and that both items will be part of the June agenda and working session. The Avalon Housing request is described in the packet as funding to repave a William Street property parking lot; the transcript did not record an amount for that request. The State Street District is requesting a grant of up to $100,000 to assist in forming a business improvement zone.
Miss Thompson also noted staff reports in the board packet that include bike counts and year-over-year parking utilization data, and she encouraged members to review the materials. No public comment was offered about the grant requests at the May 7 meeting; the board will consider the requests in June when full documentation and staff recommendations are expected to be available.
