Details: Planning staff said the original DPW site had been rezoned to OS in about 2002, and when the city later acquired adjacent parcels the rezoning step was not completed. Staff opened and closed the public hearing; no members of the public spoke for or against the rezoning during the hearing.
Discussion and next steps: Commissioners discussed the small, low-density residential parcel that remains as a master-plan outlier adjacent to the DPW property and were told the parcel’s master-plan designation could be cleaned up during a forthcoming master-plan update. The commission voted to approve the rezoning; staff said the city of Grand Rapids will pay for temporary removal and reinstallation of a streetlight related to an unrelated utility project on East Paris (also on the agenda).
