Mayor outlines 2025 streets program, Brookpark Row work and veterans‑memorial paver project

City crews have begun work on the 2025 streets program, with Idlewood milled and saw cuts on Spring Crest already completed. The mayor said the work is progressing and is expected to finish in early June, weather permitting. Traffic calming measures on Idlewood were singled out for discussion at an immediate public safety and environmental committee meeting following the council session.
The mayor reported that Ridge Road exit ramp work for I‑480 will begin June 7 and is expected to run through early October. For Brookpark Row right‑of‑way improvements on the west side of the city, the mayor said many property owners have completed required frontage work; city inspection (by Mr. Henry) will confirm finalization and the city will assess remaining property owners for unfinished work if necessary.
The veterans memorial paver program (pavers installed in 1996) drew resident participation and the mayor said the next phase of the memorial project should begin in the coming days. The mayor also noted progress with a proposed townhome development on Memphis (preliminary site plan expected at the June 4 planning commission meeting) and that the administration continues to pursue congressional directed spending for an ambulance purchase and the Kingdom Trail expansion.
Councilmembers and staff said they have engaged a consultant (Macaulay) to seek grant funding for capital projects from 2026–2029; the consultant has begun work on the city's capital project list. The council flagged that some contract questions remain and the law director will follow up.
A public safety and environmental committee meeting was scheduled to discuss ebikes and traffic issues on Idlewood immediately after the council meeting; no formal decisions were made at the council meeting itself.
