Wilmington's safety director told City Council that local officers participated in an undercover operation with the sheriff's department and the Ohio Department of Liquor Control that resulted in four citations to businesses for sales to underage buyers.
At the meeting Safety Director Eveland said the operation was coordinated with the sheriff's department and the state liquor-control agency and produced four citations to local businesses. Eveland also reported a recent police officers memorial event and described wreaths placed at local memorials.
Eveland announced the department will reinstitute a bike patrol this summer. Chief Foster reported two officers have completed training and have begun bicycle patrols on the city's bike path and in Marlena Park; he told council the program has received positive feedback from residents so far.
Those statements were given during departmental reports; council did not take separate formal action on the operations reported Tuesday.
