DDA director reports spring events, announces TIF plan open house May 29

Nate Mack, director of the South Lyon Downtown Development Authority, reported on recent downtown events and announced an open house for the DDA’s TIF plan renewal on May 29.
Mack said the DDA’s spring Ladies Night Out drew steady attendance and that the group collected 308 pounds of food and $400 in cash donations for Active Faith. The following day the farmers market continued and the DDA held its first food-truck rally; Mack said vendors reported positive feedback but that some vendors felt there were too many trucks for the crowd size.
Mack said the DDA will hold an “Investing in the Future” open house on Thursday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Oak Room of the South Lyon Hotel to gather public input for updating the TIF plan. “So it’s to discuss the DDA’s updating the TIF plan,” Mack said, adding that the event is intended to be a public opportunity to share ideas about the future business mix and type of development the community would like to encourage.
Council members asked clarifying questions about food-truck logistics and the open house purpose; Mack said the DDA is seeking feedback on the downtown vision rather than enforcing or explaining why particular stores are or are not present downtown.
