County approves Steamboat Marathon road‑use permit for June 1 event

Operational details presented at the meeting included a courthouse‑lawn presence on race morning (set up on the morning of the event), placement of portable toilets on county road rights‑of‑way and trash pickup scheduled the following Monday. Organizers said porta‑potties would be dropped near the courthouse and on County Road 36 and that trash would be collected Sunday afternoon.
The Steamboat Springs Chamber of Commerce’s CEO, Sarah Leonard, spoke in favor of the event, calling it a long‑standing community partnership that provides economic benefits to North Routt and noting good communications between event organizers, the city and county. Commissioners praised the event as a well‑organized community activity and moved to authorize the chair to sign the permit.
Vote: Motion to approve the road‑use permit and authorize the chair to sign passed by voice vote (ayes).
