The Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Adjustment on April 23 approved a wall sign for Dave Pitney LLP at 8 Sylvan Way (Application 25:15), granting relief from the ROL zone's 25-foot maximum sign height to allow a 28-foot-high sign and imposing a condition that the sign lighting be dimmed after 10 p.m.
Nicole Magdziak, counsel for the applicant, said the firm is relocating its office and needs the sign for identification; planner John McDonough testified the sign supports business retention and would not cause substantial negative visual impacts. The applicant proposed lighting the sign during hours of darkness; the board referenced a reviewer memo (dated 03/27/2025) recommending dimming during non-business hours and adopted a condition that lights must be dimmed after 10 p.m. The board's roll-call vote was unanimously in favor with board members recording yes votes.
The applicant said occasional staff and clients visit the office after standard business hours and requested lighting until 10 p.m.; the board accepted dimming later as mitigation. The clerk said the written resolution will follow and the condition (lights dimmed after 10 p.m.) will be included in the approval.
