Santee amends TransNet allocations to align with SANDAG RTIP update for FY2026–30

The Santee City Council voted unanimously to amend the city’s TransNet local street improvement program and align project funding allocations with the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) estimates for fiscal years 2026–2030.
Staff said SANDAG provides annual revised revenue estimates for TransNet and that jurisdictions must amend their local programs and adopt a resolution when allocations change. The amendment adjusts funding for the city’s pavement repair and rehabilitation project, pavement roadway maintenance and the regional arterial management system (traffic signal operations). Non‑TransNet items in the RTIP referenced during the presentation include smart traffic signals, Cuyamaca Street right‑turn lanes (currently in construction) and broadband infrastructure improvements.
Staff recommended and the council approved amendments to the city’s TransNet project lists so the city’s five‑year capital improvement program would be consistent with SANDAG funding estimates. The presentation included SANDAG’s revised revenue estimates for the city for FY2026–30 and a recommendation to adopt the resolution required by the TransNet ordinance.
Council adopted the resolution and staff will update the capital improvement program budget documents to reflect the revised allocations.
