The CCRSD school committee voted to increase its fiscal-2025 budget by $400,000 and to use the additional funds for capital stabilization ($200,000) and an OPEB (Other Post-Employment Benefits) contribution ($200,000).
The school committee is required to notify member towns of budget changes; towns may call special town meetings to act but often the change is approved passively if the town takes no action. Carrie (staff) noted the CCRSD notice arrived with a timeline that would have required Concord to call a special town meeting within the 45-day window, which was impractical and uncommon. She said in practice most member towns typically take no action, allowing the district's adjustment to stand.
The Select Board moved and voted to take no action on the CCRSD budget change, effectively allowing the district’s adjustment to proceed absent a town meeting protest. Staff said they will follow up with CCRSD and with Carlisle officials to confirm procedures and documentation.
