The Trenton Parks and Recreation Board on May 13 reiterated a design preference for a new gazebo at Founders Park and asked staff to prepare a proposal and estimate.
Board members said their preference is a 14-by-14-foot vinyl octagonal (eight-sided) gazebo "without sides or doors" and with an ADA-accessible ramp. "We prefer the 8 sided gazebo or octagonal, without sides or doors," a board member said during discussion.
Board members asked staff to prepare a specific design and cost estimate that could be presented to the city for approval. "Okay, perfect. I'll know what you need. We'll get 1 put together, and then I can report that back to you," staff member Brad Baker said in response.
The discussion focused on accessibility and matching the roof color to the city building; members explicitly said they do not want doors or screens and want easy access for people using ramps. No formal motion was taken at the May 13 meeting; staff will return with a proposal and estimate for future board consideration.
