Council approves community and arts grant awards from 2025 fund

The committee prioritized applications addressing basic human needs and mental health services first, followed by projects that improve the Worthington community. The council approved Resolution 11‑2025 as presented; the agenda packet contained the committee’s recommendations and summaries of each applicant project.
Council also approved Resolution 12‑2025, which funds arts programming. The McConnell Arts Center ran the arts grant process and recommended seven organizations to receive a total of $5,000 in city arts funding; the council adopted the recommendations. Two council members abstained from the arts vote because of organizational affiliations disclosed during the meeting; staff recorded those abstentions and the resolution passed.
Staff said organizations that receive grants will be asked to report back to the city on program outcomes after funds are expended.
