Worthington City Council approved two grant resolutions on March 17: Resolution 11-2025 for the annual community grant program and Resolution 12-2025 for community arts programming.
Community grant program Ryan Cooper, who served on the review committee, told council the panel reviewed 14 applications totaling $58,100 in requests and recommended awards from the city’s $42,000 budget. The review committee included council members and community representatives and applied council priorities that emphasized basic human necessities and mental health services first, and general community improvement second. Council adopted the committee’s recommendations by voice vote.
Community arts programming grants Staff described a separate $5,000 arts grant program administered by the McConnell Arts Center, which recommended seven organizations to receive awards. The council approved the McConnell recommendations. Two council members disclosed affiliations: one member said she recently joined the High Road Gallery board and abstained; another member said he sits on the Partnership Board and also abstained. The clerk recorded those abstentions and the resolution passed.
Next steps Grantees will report back to the city on use of funds and program outcomes as required by the grant process. Both grant programs will be administered under the city’s established reporting and monitoring procedures.
