Fire station project: city aims for final design mid-summer, GMP by late summer

The city provided an update on the Bay Village fire station project on April 21, reporting the design and procurement timeline and arrangements for temporary accommodations during construction.
A staff briefing said the administration and the project team met with the architect and the construction manager (Regency) for a general update. Project staff indicated they hope to complete the construction-document (CD) design phase by mid-summer and that Regency expects to present a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) toward the end of summer. If the GMP is acceptable, the team said it anticipates breaking ground in the fall.
Officials also discussed temporary living quarters for firefighters while the station is rebuilt. The administration said project staff and the architect worked on solutions to provide beds, bathrooms and showers in compact temporary spaces for personnel during construction, and the council thanked firefighters for their flexibility.
Fire staff said the schedule remains tentative: the CD design completion, GMP and construction start depend on ongoing design work, pricing and final approvals. City leaders said they will bring the GMP and associated contract documents to council for review if the numbers and contingencies require legislative authorization.
