Vice President Tony Heil introduced a proclamation honoring Mayor Beth Jacksir for her public service and cited efforts including literacy initiatives, building relationships between the police department and residents, and grant-seeking to reduce speeding. Councilmember Laura Hauck seconded the proclamation; the motion carried by voice vote.
Separately, council recognized the borough’s 2025 Dr. Vincent scholarship honoree: Axel Juarez Hernandez, who will attend Westchester University (as announced by Tony Heil). The scholarship announcement noted a competitive pool of applicants and said the presentation to the student will occur at a future meeting.
Council members offered personal remarks of thanks to Mayor Jacksir for her service; the mayor said she intends to remain engaged in borough activities after her term.
