The Ripley Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a resolution amending the city’s personnel rules to modify annual leave provisions, allowing employees to accrue up to 300 hours of annual leave instead of losing unused time at year-end.
The city clerk described the change as a uniformity measure: other departments had already adopted the accrual limit and the change brings all departments into alignment. The clerk said, “Presently, if you don't take your vacation in the year, you lose that vacation. This is an opportunity for the employees to accrue up to no more than 300 hours.”
A motion to adopt the personnel resolution was made by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Frazier; the board approved the amendment by voice vote. The board did not attach additional modifications to benefits or state a phase-in schedule during the meeting.
The change affects the city’s internal leave accounting and payroll procedures; the clerk and human-resources staff will implement the revised accrual ceiling and update departmental policies accordingly. No new funding or specific availability date for using accrued leave was read into the record at the time of the vote.
