Sheffield Trail reached substantial completion the Monday before the meeting; staff said punch‑list work continues and the trail remains closed while final items are finished, with reopening expected “at least a few weeks out” and likely in June.
The splash pad restroom exterior has been painted and pump‑room equipment installations and memorial brick placements are under way; staff gave a tentative opening target of the July 4 weekend and said a ribbon cutting is being planned for July 3 in the afternoon.
Staff also reported taking possession of the Salzmann property and conducting a preliminary walkthrough to prepare the house, garage and grounds for handover to Sahali to operate a nature center. The board was told the city council approved the park name as Salzmann Park.
Board members asked for expected dates for trail reopening and splash‑pad events; staff provided the tentative timelines above and said they will circulate invitations and updates when schedules are confirmed.
