Dodge County board approves Friends of Clearview donations for resident activities

The Human Services and Health Board approved expenditures submitted by Friends of Clearview to pay for resident activities, patio supplies and tents for outdoor events, the board heard.
The board adopted the Friends of Clearview request after staff explained the purchases are paid from donated funds overseen by the nonprofit Friends of Clearview rather than Clearview’s operating budget. The expenditures include two event tents for large outdoor gatherings, patio decorations and funding for resident outings and a tailgate party that features a live band and food for residents.
Board members clarified how donated funds move through the Friends group. A staff member said the Friends of Clearview is the nonprofit entity that receives and manages donations for the facility and that the auxiliary and other donors often route contributions to that group. The presenter noted the Friends approved the items earlier that day for about $52,600 in total (amount provided during the meeting packet discussion).
Supervisor Durr moved to approve the Friends of Clearview expenditures; Supervisor Bischoff seconded and the board voted to approve. The chair said he would sign the paperwork immediately.
The Friends of Clearview expenditures will be paid from those donated funds; no county operating funds were identified as being used for these line items.
Board members did not raise concerns about the purchases during the vote. Staff said the Friends group will continue to oversee donated funds and bring future requests to the board as needed.
