Valley COG outlines outreach for safety action plan and a transit feasibility study

Alan Adolf, regional transportation manager at the Valley Council of Governments (YVCOG), updated the committee on regional-level work: the YVCOG safety action plan will resume public outreach with a presence at Seal a Days and other pop-up events, offering an interactive map and opportunities to log locations of safety concerns (accident locations and ‘areas of anxiety’ for all road users).
Adolf said the outreach will feed a database that combines recorded crash locations with community-reported trouble spots and that the region’s transit-feasibility study Phase 2 will evaluate ways to improve transit accessibility using current assets and revenues. He said the YVCOG has applied for additional grant funding for a potential Phase 3 that would consider new revenue streams; final funding and federal reauthorization discussions could affect timelines.
Adolf urged jurisdictions to watch for upcoming pop-ups and surveys and said much of the YVCOG work is intended to create ready studies and data sets so the region can act quickly if and when funding opportunities materialize.
