The Mound City Council approved a consent-agenda item on May 13 authorizing a temporary space license agreement with West Tonka Library to provide library services from an interim location while the library arranges a temporary facility.
City staff said the temporary arrangement will include a kiosk at City Hall for book pick-up, returns and a rental kiosk, and will not function as a full-service reading or activity space. "So it'll be, you know, it's not gonna be a spot for hanging out necessarily," a city staff member said when describing planned services at the City Hall kiosk. Staff said the library hopes to begin moving in by June but that no demolition or major work was imminent at the library site.
Council members asked that staff and the library ensure a robust communication plan so patrons know where to access materials during the temporary arrangement. Staff said the library will post signage and the city will help with public notice when the precise schedule is set.
The temporary space license agreement was part of the consent agenda approved earlier in the meeting. During roll call for the consent agenda members present recorded "Aye" for the consent items.
