The Town of Templeton Select Board voted to contract with Aponte & Aponte for presented accounting services beginning May 15, 2025, and running through June 30, 2026. The board authorized the interim town administrator to sign contract documents.
Jared Aponte, on the phone for Aponte & Aponte, described the services that the firm would provide and addressed payroll duties: “Correct. Plus, whatever you need for payroll, I added that in at the end. Right. We have no concerns about any payroll duties. Very fluent in harbors and with the whole process, so it's not a concern.” Board members asked about continuity when the town’s payroll staff is on vacation; Jared Aponte said he would oversee and process payroll in those instances.
Board members discussed how the cost will be charged to town accounts and whether transfers between line items (for example, from supplies to services) would be required; staff noted that any transfers would follow the town’s standard procedures and possibly be addressed at town meeting if needed. The contract will be charged to the town’s account line items for services; specific account numbers were discussed informally on the record (references to 5100 and to accounts 55 or 57), and board members asked staff to ensure the expense posts to the appropriate service account.
The motion to contract with Aponte & Aponte was made, seconded and approved by roll call. The board recorded affirmative votes from members present. The contract was described as providing remote support (video, phone, email) with occasional in-person time as needed.
