South Plainfield council adopts ordinances, resolutions and approves $11.4 million in bills; bond ordinance introduced

The South Plainfield Mayor and Council voted 5-0 on Feb. 18 to adopt two ordinances, approve a package of resolutions and authorize payment of $11,416,332.60 in municipal bills. Council members also introduced a bond ordinance to finance part of the borough's 2025 road program and scheduled a public hearing for March 3, 2025.
Council members voted to adopt Ordinance 23-40, which amends chapters 5-10 and 5-15 of the borough code on fees and development review fees, and Ordinance 23-41, authorizing the sale of property known as Lot 12 in Block 364 as no longer needed for public use. Both final-adoption votes were unanimous, 5-0.
The council introduced Ordinance 23-42, a bond ordinance providing $1,050,000 for the borough's 2025 road program and authorizing the issuance of $995,000 in bonds or notes to finance part of the cost. The council set a public hearing and final-adoption vote on Ordinance 23-42 for March 3, 2025, at approximately 7 p.m.
A block motion to adopt Resolutions 25-89 through 25-101 passed 5-0. The minutes of the Feb. 3 meeting (regular and executive) were approved by roll call, and the council authorized payment of bills totaling $11,416,332.60 by a 5-0 vote.
Roll-call votes recorded the same five yes votes across the formal actions: Councilman Benjvanga, Councilwoman Faustini, Councilman Smith, Councilman Bullock and Council President White.
No executive-session items were scheduled. The council adjourned after the day's business.
