Huron City Council voted to authorize submission of a grant application to the Beckley Charitable Trust to buy a new outdoor projection screen for the Boat Basin "Movies by the River" program.
The resolution (No. 40-2025) authorizes the city manager to accept a grant award not to exceed $3,000 if the application is successful. Doug Steinwerk, who presented the request, said the program has been running since 1997 and is one of the city's longest-running events.
Council approved the resolution on first reading after waiving the three-reading rule and recorded final adoption by roll call.
The city will move forward with the application; if the grant is awarded, staff said the screen purchase will be funded up to the stated amount and administered by the parks and recreation department.
