Commission approves contract oversight for Aging and Disability Resource Center

The Pueblo County Board of County Commissioners on Thursday approved a contract arrangement designating the county as the area agency on aging and overseeing the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC).
County staff said the Southeast Regional Development Association (SRDA) will perform the ADRC’s day-to-day work under a subcontract while the county manages oversight and reporting to state agencies.
Russ Guerrero, deputy director of family and community services, told the board SRDA “has done it for years” and will administer ADRC services, including referrals to long-term care and counseling for older adults, veterans and people with disabilities. Guerrero said the county’s role is supervisory and that “there’s not any financial contribution on our end.”
Commissioners voted to approve the resolution after a short discussion. The motion carried.
The ADRC provides a single point of contact for aging-related services; SRDA will submit quarterly reports to the county coordinator and the state, Guerrero said.
