Pueblo County manager given direct supervisory authority over Runyon Sports Complex general manager to speed decisions

Pueblo County commissioners on April 16 approved a revision to the county organizational chart that moves the Runyon Sports Complex general manager out of the Department of Public Works and under the County Manager’s Office.
County staff said the change follows discussions with the Runyon Advisory Board and county staff and aims to improve operational efficiency at the Runyon Sports Complex by shortening approval chains for purchases and decisions that need timely action. The reorganization will give the complex general manager expanded purchase and administrative authority for day-to-day operations.
Commissioners who grew up using Runyon praised the facility and said the move should help the complex operate more smoothly. County staff said the change will make the general manager a de facto department director for Runyon and is intended to expedite approvals that were impeded by multiple supervision layers within Public Works.
The board voted to approve the organizational chart revision. Staff will implement the reassignment and adjust internal authorities and purchasing thresholds accordingly.
