Park County approves ESRI services agreement; multiple departments share cost

The Park County Board of County Commissioners voted 3‑0 April 1 to approve a professional services agreement with Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc.) for GIS implementation work intended to modernize county mapping and web map tools.
County Manager Lucas Myers described the contract as investment in delayed maintenance to provide better tools and reduce manual workloads for county mapping functions. “This is really an investment in, delayed maintenance,” Myers said during the meeting, noting the upgrade will help the county update assessor maps and other online GIS products.
Myers told the board that the project will be funded by reallocations from multiple department budgets—911 dispatch, the sheriff’s office, the assessor and Road and Bridge—so the county will not be carrying an unfunded new expense. Commissioner Mitchell praised the cross‑departmental contributions and said spreading the cost made the project fundable.
The board approved the agreement by voice vote; the motion carried 3‑0.
County staff said the contract will create a new budget line item for the project and that business managers will better document line descriptions for vouchers in future reports. The county did not provide a total contract amount during the meeting.
The action is intended to improve county GIS capabilities and reduce staff time required to maintain and publish mapping products.
