Park County OKs $30,000 renewal with Teller Park Conservation District for noxious-weed control

Park County commissioners on March 18 approved a $30,000 renewal contract with the Teller Park Conservation District to continue noxious-weed control on county-owned land.
The vote followed a brief presentation at the board’s work session and questions from commissioners about who would supervise herbicide application and how the program is administered. Commissioners said the county has partnered with the conservation district for a long time and described the effort as part of ongoing land-management work.
Greg from the Park County Road and Bridge (presented to the board during the preceding work session) explained project operations; commissioners thanked him for answering follow-up questions about qualified supervisors and operational details. The board voted in favor without recorded opposition.
Commissioners noted that current county budget constraints limit additional funding for weed management and that the county’s Land and Water Trust Fund board had suggested the fund might be an appropriate source for some future weed-management grant requests. Commissioners clarified the trust fund may be used for wildlife habitat and outdoor recreation projects and expressed interest in exploring whether that fund could help support weed mitigation in future cycles.
The motion passed by voice vote; the board recorded the motion as carried.
