Board approves $2.25 million science-textbook purchase and a budget amendment after revenue revision

The Citrus County School Board approved purchases for the 2025–26 science instructional materials and passed a budget amendment that reduces estimated state funding and adjusts appropriations.
Assistant superintendent/leader for instructional materials presented a recommendation for K–12 science instructional materials that will be placed into service in 2025–26 and adopted for five years; the presenter said the total cost is about $2,250,000. The board voted to approve purchasing the approved selections.
The finance director presented Budget Amendment No. 7 (amended March 2025). The director said the most significant change was a revised FEFP (Florida Education Finance Program) third calculation that reduced estimated revenue by about $4,400,000. To balance the general fund, the district reduced estimated appropriations and will decrease fund balance by about $2.6 million in the amendment. The board approved the amendment by motion and second.
The board also recorded routine donations on the consent agenda totaling $53,931.36 from multiple community donors to support schools and programs, and approved a contract price change for the Diligent Community agreement previously adopted at a special meeting.
