Uintah County approves MOU with Utah Cyber Center for patch management through 2029 at no cost

Vernal, Utah — The Uintah County Commission approved a second-amendment memorandum of understanding with the Utah Cyber Center on May 13, authorizing county staff to accept patch-management and related cybersecurity services at no cost through April 8, 2029.
Ryan Mattson presented the MOU, describing the Cyber Center as a state division that aggregates buying power for counties, cities and special service districts and supplies cybersecurity services and licensing at scale. Mattson said the current MOU will automatically terminate on April 8, 2029, for the patch management service described; other projects have different end dates and depend on continued state funding.
Mattson and staff said the program is provided at no cost to the county for the project period covered by the MOU and that the county must follow the Cyber Center’s process for certain administrative tasks, such as creating administrator accounts. Commissioners authorized Mattson to sign the MOU in place of the regular signatory while that official is out of state.
The commission voted to approve the MOU and grant signature authority to the staff member identified in the motion.
