At its May 15 meeting the State Bond Commission received a status update on general-obligation bonds sold April 29. Staff reported the sale drew more than $2,000,000,000 in orders for approximately $354,000,000 in bonds. The transaction was scheduled to close the same day at 10 a.m., and staff provided a recap in the commission packet.
Staff also summarized fiscal-year 2026 general-obligation (G.O.) debt-service estimates that will be reflected in the budget: staff said FY '26 G.O. debt service will be approximately $449,000,000. The presentation was informational; Representative Reiser moved to accept the status update and the commission acknowledged the report without further action.
Why it matters: The oversubscribed sale indicates market demand for the state's G.O. bonds; the debt-service projection informs fiscal planning for the coming year.
