Washington County Commissioners Court on Tuesday tabled a proposal to adopt updated pricing under OMNIA cooperative purchasing contract number 13897 with CentOS for the county’s rental and service agreements.
County staff said the OMNIA pricing would reduce costs for existing services and uniforms and that CentOS has been a long-term vendor. Staff recommended adopting state contract pricing, which they said would lower county costs. The contract under discussion included a proposed five-year term with limited inflationary caps; staff noted the contract limits annual increases to the smaller of CPI or 3 percent.
Several commissioners expressed caution about entering a long-term, five-year contract because it can be difficult to exit and service levels sometimes fall short of expectations. “I would recommend that we table this one and bring it back if you had a chance to, try to negotiate a shorter term,” the County Judge said. A motion to table the item carried by voice vote.
Staff said they would attempt to negotiate a shorter contract term or other changes before bringing the item back to the court.
