Edinburg CISD enrollment falls by 567 students compared with last year, district reports

Edinburg — Edinburg Consolidated ISD reported a year-over-year decline in enrollment in a board presentation May 9.
Freddy Martinez, director for PEIMS and Pupil Accounting, told trustees the district closed the most recent instructional day with 33,098 students, a decrease of 567 students from the same instructional day in the prior school year. Martinez said the district closed elementary enrollment at 16,718 students, down 322 year over year, and secondary enrollment at 16,380 students, down 245.
Martinez said the district’s cumulative migrant count rose slightly to 3.78 (the presentation did not specify whether this figure was a count or rate). He also reported year-to-date migrant leavers of 183 students, an increase of 53 since the last board meeting, and 123 high-school graduates year to date, eight more than at the last meeting. Martinez presented the data as of May 9, 2025 (marked day 166 of the school year) and said the report had been included in board packets.
Board members had no substantive questions after the presentation and moved on to other agenda items.
