The applicant said the copper will patina over time and will protect the masonry; the craftsman performing the work was described as a long‑time copper artisan.
Staff had recommended denial of this particular cap because a documentary photo record did not show a historic cap in that position; the board discussed the visual impact and the extent of previously approved copper work across the property. After debate the board voted 6‑2 to allow the copper cap, directing that final shop drawings and permit revisions come back through staff review as part of the building permit process.
The owner said the copper cap will be installed under permit and that final details will be coordinated with staff at permit stage.
