MPO approves town of Mesilla’s ranking for transportation fund applications; Paesano Road top priority

Dominic Loya of MPO staff said the MPO must submit ranked Transportation Project Fund applications to the state by May 30. Mayor Russell Hernandez presented both applications and recommended Paesano Road as the top priority.
Hernandez described the Paesano Road request as a reconstruction/resurfacing of roughly one mile from Glass Road, emphasizing construction and construction management work with minimal engineering. The project request totaled $670,772; the town proposed a proportional match of $33,539 and asked the MPO to request a match waiver. For the Calle del Sur (Calle del Sur/Carlos Sur) planning and design request, Hernandez said the town sought $102,586.36 for planning and design with a 10% proportional match ($5,399.29); he noted one letter of support from DOT and that a letter from EBID was expected before the NMDOT deadline.
The board voted by roll call on Resolution 25-07, with trustees and councilors recording affirmative votes; MPO staff and the chair announced the motion passed. No amendments were taken; MPO staff said the Calle del Sur letter of support from EBID, if received after the board vote, would not require the governing board to re-rank the submitted packet.
