Marshalltown names four new administrators to start July 1

The Marshalltown Community School District on April 21 introduced four administrators who will begin in their posts July 1, all of whom the board had previously recommended and the district will finalize hiring details ahead of the July start date.
The new administrators are Oscar Cardenas, tapped as principal of Woodbury Elementary; Desiree Hudson, named associate principal at Marshalltown High School; Jordan Terry, named associate principal to lead Marshdown Learning Academy, Marshdown Virtual Academy and the Therapeutic Classroom; and Todd Carl, selected as facilities director.
District leadership read brief biographies at the meeting: Cardenas has served as associate principal at Hyatt Middle School and previously taught ELL and elementary; Hudson has been a special education consultant in Des Moines and has instructional leadership credentials; Terry has been an associate principal in Des Moines’ alternative programs and has a PK–12 principalship master’s; and Carl, a Marshalltown native, worked 34 years at JBS rising to general manager and brings facilities and operational management experience.
Todd Carl and the other hires addressed the board and audience, describing the appointments as homecomings and expressing excitement to begin July 1. The board and superintendent welcomed the hires publicly and said they look forward to onboarding plans this summer.
No formal vote was required at the meeting; the introductions reiterated the hires the board had approved at an earlier session and served to present the incoming team to staff and the community.
