Simon, a member of the master plan committee, presented the committee's work on the urban design and economic development elements of the City of Mesquite master plan. The committee has met since January and advanced visioning, mapping sessions and public outreach.
Simon said the committee began in January with initiation and moved to visioning in February. "And March, we had mapping sessions, with the, the members. And then with the mapping, we posted a survey on the website. And we got about 2 0 7 responses from the people," Simon said. The committee discussed the research at its April meeting and presented those findings to the council.
The presentation covered urban design elements, branding, marketing and economic development strategies; Simon summarized the next steps as continued committee work and follow-up presentations to council. The transcript records the presentation and a call for public comment; no formal action or vote on adoption of the master plan elements is recorded in the technical review meeting transcript.
