Council adds two casino license items and Holiday Inn liquor license to consent agenda; approved on voice vote

The Mesquite City Council on Tuesday added three administrative items to the consent agenda — two gaming-license updates for local casinos and a beer-and-wine liquor license application for the Holiday Inn (formerly the Rising Star) — and approved them by voice vote.

Mayor Simon opened the meeting and, after a request to add items, Councilwoman Simon identified two casino-related items and presented them for inclusion on consent. Council members then added the Holiday Inn liquor-license request to consent. Councilman Wallace seconded one of the casino additions. The council called the vote and approved the items on consent with no presentation.

The council record shows the casino items related to a change in gaming management to Red Rock LLC for one resort and a related item for the Casablanca Casino Resort. The Holiday Inn application was described as seeking a beer-and-wine (package, wine and spirit based) license rather than a full license; city staff reported that the applicant met the suitability and receipts requirements and that the police/policy review had cleared the application.

Because these were added and approved on the consent agenda, no separate public hearing or extended debate was recorded. The council moved on to other agenda business after the consent vote.
