School board approves consent agenda and disciplinary recommendations; quarterly safety report cites minimal issues

The School Board of Seminole County voted Tuesday to approve the consent agenda and to accept a set of student disciplinary recommendations covering multiple April dates, and received the district's quarterly safety report.

"The consent agenda be approved as presented," Superintendent Beeman told the board during the consent portion of the meeting; a motion to approve was made and seconded and the board recorded the vote as passed.

Later in the meeting the board approved the student-discipline recommendations as presented by the superintendent. "That the School Board of Seminole County approve the student disciplinary recommendations from 03/31/2025, April 7, 2025, April 14, 2025, April 20, 2025, and 04/28/2025," Superintendent Beeman said. A motion and second were recorded and the board voted in favor.

Captain Shaw, the district school safety specialist, presented the quarterly safety and security report required by state law. "As required by Florida Statute 1006.07, the school safety specialist must provide the superintendent and school board, at least quarterly, any noncompliance by school district with laws or rules regarding school safety," Captain Shaw said. He told the board that during the quarter five schools were inspected by the Florida Department of Education office of Safe Schools; Shaw said inspectors found "minimal issues" and that "all deficiencies were easily resolved and corrected in a timely manner."

Board members took no additional action on the safety report; Captain Shaw's update was presented as the required quarterly compliance item.

The meeting record shows the motions were made and the chair called for voice votes; the board responded "aye" and the motions were announced as passing. No roll-call vote tally was recorded in the meeting transcript.
