Addition Financial on Tuesday presented the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools with a donation of $18,609 that the foundation said will support two student-focused programs.
"These pennies really add up, and this year Addition is presenting the foundation with a donation for $18,609 to benefit our students," Jean Van Smith, representing the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools, told the board.
Van Smith said the donation will be split to support the Families in Need program, which provides essentials to students experiencing homelessness, and the Senior Scholarship program, which awards scholarships to students to attend college or trade school. Tim Bell, regional director for Addition Financial, and Holton Mills, associate relationship manager, were recognized at the meeting.
The presentation was part of the board's recognitions and informational items; no board vote or district policy change accompanied the donation announcement.
