Flathead County commissioners signed a tentative collective-bargaining agreement May 13 with AFSCME Local 3032 representing 9-1-1 public-safety dispatchers. Human Resources Director Tammy Skromovsky said the deal would take effect upon ratification and the financial impact is “just below $20,000” annually.
The settlement adjusts the shift-differential schedule and contains language edits and cleanups, Skromovsky said. “We were able to narrow the hours but for a larger amount and a lot of the changes inside of that contract were, fixing typos and and rewording things to where it sounded better,” she said.
Why it matters: The county said the largest recurring cost in the agreement comes from the shift-differential change; commissioners were told the total additional annual cost is under $20,000, which would be absorbed in the current pay period upon ratification.
Process and approvals: Skromovsky acknowledged the collaboration of AFSCME Local 3032 during negotiations and recommended signature by the board. A commissioner moved to approve the document for signature; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Next steps: The agreement will become effective the pay period after ratification. The county will complete signatures and proceed with implementation through Human Resources.
