Buckley names street for longtime volunteer firefighter Keith Lambertus

Buckley City Council and community members dedicated a street to the late Keith Lambertus during the council meeting, honoring his years of service as a volunteer firefighter and mentor. The family received a commemorative sign and certificate recognizing Lambertus’s contributions to Buckley and the wider plateau.

The ceremony highlighted Lambertus’s military service in the U.S. Air Force, 25 years as a volunteer firefighter with Buckley and Enumclaw departments, and 32 years as a technical designer at Boeing. Retired Chief Fred Moore, a longtime colleague, said Lambertus “cared about the firefighters he trained” and called him a “mentor” whose influence extended across the Pacific Northwest. Kyle Lambertis, Lambertus’s son, traveled from Colorado to attend the dedication.

Several current and former firefighters and family friends spoke at the event. James Munger, who said he had known Lambertus since their Air Force days, described him as “a number one guy” whose circle felt like family. Career firefighter Kelsey Murray said Lambertus—known in the department as “LT”—was a “servant leader” who mentored dozens of career firefighters and remained connected to trainees and colleagues after retirement.

Mayor and council members presented a certificate and a ceremonial street sign for the family to keep. Officials said the permanent signs will be posted in the Blueberry Farm subdivision off Ryan Road, where a new street will carry the name Lambertus Avenue.

The dedication was followed by a brief photo opportunity for family, friends and members of the Buckley Fire Department.
