Yukon planning commission approves second driveway at 329 East Mead in Parkland Heights 2

The Yukon Planning Commission on May 12, 2025 approved a curb-cut application to add a second driveway at 329 East Mead in the Parkland Heights 2 subdivision, after agreeing with the findings in the planning staff report.

Richard Gray of Sparrow Construction presented the curb-cut application for the Carrington family. Justin Carrington said his brother and parents will live at the address and that the second driveway is for convenience and to help them care for the older family members.

Planning staff told the commission a building permit for an addition to the house had already been submitted and that discovery of the proposed second driveway triggered the requirement for commission review under the city ordinance, which generally allows a single driveway without commission approval. “They have already submitted a building permit for the addition,” the staff member said. “Once staff found the second driveway, that’s when it had to come to the planning commission, due to the way the ordinance is written allowing a single driveway.”

A commissioner moved to approve the curb-cut application, citing agreement with the staff findings read into the record. The commission asked whether any members of the public wished to speak; no opposing testimony was recorded. The clerk called the vote: Clark, Jones, Knuckles and Wright were recorded voting yes. The motion carried and the curb cut was approved.

No conditions or amendments to the approval were recorded in the meeting transcript. The commission returned to other business and noted no visitors were present; the next meeting was announced for June.
