Kennard said she and neighbors support solutions for chronic speeding on their street but oppose the specific proposal as sited. She described the sign as "about 30 feet tall," taller than her rambler-style house, and said the lit sign would blink when a car drove by at night, directly affecting sleep in her primary bedroom. "That particular solution in that particular spot is really hard for us to swallow," she said, and asked for actual visuals, letters or discussion before a decision is made.
Kennard told the council she supports alternatives such as speed tables or different sign locations. She said staff had earlier approached the property and she had sent an email that she said received no response; she thanked the council for more recent replies but asked for further information and before-and-after visuals.
No council action followed the public comment during the May 13 meeting; the resident urged staff to inform nearby homeowners as proposals are finalized.
