Matt Rasu, who gave his address as Toner Golf Terrace Drive, urged the council during public comment to support a special tax levy to fund comprehensive repairs and modernization of the Crookston pool.
Rasu said the pool "is a beloved institution" and described it as "showing its age" after years of delayed maintenance. "Patchwork repairs are no longer enough to truly revitalize our pool and ensure its longevity," he said, and proposed a special tax levy dedicated to funding the work.
Rasu said he is willing to donate volunteer time to help the effort and asked council members to consider the proposal so the city does not face another fight about closing the pool next year. "I wanna polish it up and make it the best in the region," he said.
The council did not take action on the suggestion during the meeting; the item was part of the open forum and no motion to add it to the agenda was recorded.
The public comment concluded with the mayor asking if anyone else wished to speak and no other speakers came forward at that time.
