Commissioners approve bids, financial claims and two county agreements; several consent items carried

The motion to accept a sealed bid for a used 1999 Ford pickup submitted to the county weed board passed after a commissioner moved to accept the bid from Jason Bechtel of Lillard, Montana, in the amount of $8,550.50; another commissioner seconded and the motion carried with the voice vote “Aye.” The bidder’s name and the dollar amount were read into the record during public proceedings.
The board approved April payroll totaling $314,692.23 and total claims for the month listed at $371,366.37 after a motion and second; the chair called for public comment and, hearing none, the motion carried by voice vote. Separately the board approved two late road-department claims totaling $2,106.92 (itemized in the meeting materials) after staff explained those vendors had missed the county’s cutoff because of an outdated email address; commissioners moved and seconded and the motion carried.
The commission approved consent agenda items for the April 30 meeting that included the public health task order referenced as 260701106-0, the commission proceedings for April 7 and April 14, 2025, and two employee leave requests; that motion carried on a voice vote. Commissioners also approved two vendor claims that had been paid outside the main check run and ratified those payments.
The board voted to enter a memorandum of understanding among the Department of Justice, the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), and the Carter County Treasurer (identified in the record as DOJ-MVD-FY2025-0043). Under terms read into the record, MVD will provide access to required CARS applications, training and production support and will reimburse counties 10 cents per completed transaction; commissioners moved and seconded acceptance and the motion carried by voice vote.
