Wilmington Middle School students report clubs, Special Olympics participation and year‑end events

Callie Lamarsh and her fellow student representatives described Pawprint Literary Magazine’s 30th issue, submissions deadlines (May 14) and public release (May 28); the band’s spring concert (May 8) and a Best Buddies delegation of 41 students set to participate in the Special Olympics, with a senior student speaking at the opening ceremony. The WMS math team finished fourth in its division and plans a team gathering in May. The robotics team previewed returning leadership, Java coding work for autonomous programs and a 3‑D printing plaque project; the team is coordinating mentorship with high‑school robotics.
Students also listed upcoming events and school traditions: distribution and autograph day for yearbooks, an art show (May 9–10), a combined field day on June 10 that will include an eighth‑grade aloha dance and an eighth‑grade moving‑up ceremony on June 12. Student leaders described a spring clothing drive (Project 351) that produced 14 bags donated to Cradles to Crayons and additional bags for the Wilmington Education Foundation bin.
Committee members asked clarifying questions about a teacher talent show, praised student leadership on anti‑hate work (No Place for Hate), and encouraged staff invitations to committee members for events. Committee members also noted the scale of student participation and thanked students for civic and service activities.
